CHRISTMAS BRIDGE & PARTY

After next week - December 17 - the next bridge session will be in the new year - Friday January 7. The Christmas party dates for January appear to be in a situation where some have prior engagements, either Sailing Club walks or Pirate home rugby fixtures. What does everybody think if we had a party Saturday and not on Sunday, eat at lunch time and play bridge in the afternoon. One other date for your diaries is a charity bridge night in aid of St Julia's Hospice on Wednesday January 19 when there will be a newcomer session as well as the club duplicate. As for me, may I wish everybody a very happy Christmas and very best wishes for the New Year.

BRIDGE CANCELLED

Due to snow in Penzance and the risk of a severe freeze it has been decided to cancel the bridge at the Sailing Club tonight. Weather permitting back to normal next Friday 10th December.

DECEMBER MEETING

It is the Sailing Club Dinner Dance on Friday 3rd December so it is very probable that the bridge will be played on Thursday 2nd December. Listen for further announcements and watch this space. The Christmas Party will now be held in January, probably a Sunday and I would suggest 9th January.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

I have checked with the Godolphin Arms and Yacht Inn regarding the Party. The Godolphin have most dates available except the Friday before Christmas. Their price was £14.95 excluding tea or coffee, coffee is an extra £1.40. The Yacht price is £17.95 including coffee and mints but they only have the following dates available Monday 6th & 13th; Tuesday 14th; Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th December. The menu choices are virtually the same. I have not got any information from the Bay where the party was held last year. Any other suggestions are welcome but I think a decision will have to be made this week. 
As for me I have not been given a date for my knee operation but it is expected to be about 4 weeks time. I shall be in hospital for 3 or 4 days, need care at home for another 2 or 3 days before being able to go up country to stay with my family. I will not be able to drive for 6 weeks, but after that I should be a new man!! Subject to the date I am given I may well be missing from the party again this year.
